Custom software & web applications

Web applications, customer and partner portals, storefronts and internal tools, engineered full-stack.

The short answer

webbox builds custom software when packaged products will not fit: web applications, customer and partner portals, e-commerce, and internal tools that have outgrown spreadsheets. We work full-stack in TypeScript, React and Node, design and engineer in the same team, and ship in two-week cycles that each end in something you can click. We also take over and modernize existing codebases.

Custom web application development

The anchor build.

Full-stack web applications and dashboards on React and Node, typed end to end, with the offline and installable behaviour where it helps.

B2B & customer self-service portals

Let customers serve themselves.

Portals for ordering, support, documents and account management, connected to your ERP so the data is live rather than nightly.

Product & UI/UX design

Designed and engineered as one.

Interface and interaction design carried out inside the build team, with a design system that survives the second and third feature.

Legacy application modernization

Inherit it, do not restart it.

An audit of an inherited codebase, documentation of what is actually there, and a costed path to adding features without an unnecessary rewrite.

Headless & composable CMS

Content without the commodity site.

Headless CMS builds for fast, editable, AI-search-ready content surfaces that marketing can change without a developer ticket.

What the work involves

Web applications

React and Node, typed end to end, with the performance budget agreed on day one rather than discovered during load testing.

Portals

Customer, vendor and partner self-service for ordering, documents, support and accounts, which is usually the cheapest back-office headcount you will ever save.

E-commerce

Shopify and WooCommerce builds tuned for conversion and launch-day traffic, connected to your ERP for stock, pricing and invoicing.

Internal tools

The operations tooling that currently lives in a spreadsheet one person maintains, rebuilt with permissions, audit trail and no single point of failure.

Product & interface design

Interface and interaction design done inside the build, so what you sign off is what actually ships.

Legacy modernization

Taking over an inherited codebase, documenting what is there, and adding features safely instead of proposing an automatic rewrite.

Custom Software: good to know

When should we build custom rather than buy a product?
Buy for anything standard: accounting, payroll, generic CRM. Build for the thing that differentiates you, the customer-facing experience, or an integration no product covers. We give an honest read on which side a requirement falls, including when the answer costs us the build.
Can you take over an existing codebase?
Yes, and it is a large part of what we do. We start with a short audit, document what is there, and agree a safe path to adding features. A rewrite is sometimes right, but it is not the default answer.
Who owns the code?
You do, from the first commit, in your own repository. No licence, no escrow arrangement, no dependency on us continuing.
